As many of you have probably heard, for the past 2 weeks a spiritual revival that started at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky has started to spread across university campuses. You can click on the button below for more information. If you are on social media or the news you will see that there has been some criticism but, by far, the people I follow and respect have been very supportive of this movement. What is even more amazing is the support comes from ecumenical, evangelical and charismatic/pentecostal groups. There is a real unity in this.
We have been praying for God's awakening to come into our nation and our city for years. As recent as January we had a week of prayer and fasting to ask God to come and change our hearts...to set us apart as a holy people. I am asking everyone in City Church to take time in your small groups and families to ask God for a Great Awakening in Albuquerque. God wants to change the direction of our city and state. He wants to prosper us. He wants to fix broken homes, broken schools, broken laws and broken people. He wants to make us a people who are inclined to His ways.
2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
When God moves in one place, He often moves in others. He is not stingy with His mercy and grace. Let's ask the question, "Why not us?!"
Here is an excerpt from Pastor Steve Williams after he and Barabara visited the revival on behalf of Ministers Fellowship International:
Barbara and I just spent the day at Hugh's Auditorium at Asbury Seminary. We stood in line with a great number of people for over 5 hours to get in, and sat in a renewal/revival/awakening service for 6 more hours that is making room for those 25 and under. There were over 1000 of them on the main floor. The balcony was filled with those that were older. They are filling other buildings with a simalcast, and over 1000 people we're watching outside on a BIG SCREEN. People are coming from every state and many nations to see and participate in what God is doing. THE MEETING WAS FILLED WITH HIS MANIFEST PRESENCE, SIMPLICITY OF WORSHIP (an acoustic guitar, a piano, and a single drum box) the main focus of worship was the voices of people, and very wise humble leadership.
A leader said this afternoon, we didn't call this meeting, Holy Spirit did. There is NO HYPE!!
The testimonies of young people being saved, prodigals returning, bodies, minds, emotions being healed, and people being set free from sexual immorality and all of its shame are many and powerful.
